I put small items (SD cards, etc) in the trunks of the model cars on my desk. That way, they don't get lost.

I don't know! The only draw back is the cars on my desk are 1/32 scale, and only the cayenne and ML have opening trunks.

One time I stored a piece of gum in the trunk of a model Enzo I owned. It's still there, seven years later.
... the trunk is really hard to open.

I have a 1:6 scale (freaking huge) PT Cruiser on my desk. I've stored my phone, car keys, other model cars, and some stationery inside of it all at once.
Though, usually I just keep sticky notes and occasionally my phone in its boot.

You're not the only one. I currently have a couple of Euros in the frunk of my 1/18 baby blue Gallardo Spyder and Colombian Peso bills in the trunks of my grey E Type Roadster (Series 1, 3.8 I6) and my silver 300SL Gullwing.

My blue Matchbox Mazda 2 I'd have to say that of the three mentioned above, the 300SL is my favorite by a teeny tiny margin. Of ALL the cars I currently have on my desk, my white 1/43 Bburago Renault 4 GTL that I bought in Colombia over the summer wins hands down.

Ironically, it's actually a massive R/C car. It was a gift from a co-worker that knows I love cars. I hate driving a PT, but don't mind a diecast and a giganto R/C version.
Shame, New Bright doesn't make R/Cs how they used to. I remember they used to make a 1:6 Hummer as well. Had full working lights (even side markers and such), horn, and everything.
